Puerto Arista

The principal beach bathing area of Chiapas is 185 kilometers from Tuxtla Gutierrez. With modest services, it is outstanding above all, for its long beaches of fine sand facing the open sea, its palm trees, its high waves and the far away peaks of the sierra, crowned by evening clouds. During the last century, the Courts of Cadiz permitted the opening of international commerce, but this was never achieved. In its surrounding areas, there are places of tranquil beauty. One of these is, Cabeza de Toro, colorful town on the banks of La Joya lagoon, where the fishing boats glide peacefully over the waters, with the Cerro Bernal as the background. Another is Boca de Cielo, situated in the opening that communicates the lagoon with the sea.
